I HAD to bring this up to the blog immediately. I just accidently found an email I sent out back in November 2002. It is of immense inportance to the whole “what the fuck happened to Harry” issue that all the AAers I know have asked.

This blog exists because of the events that unfolded after this email you are about to read.

So let’s read this email:

Hello everyone,
(Yeah everyone, not just you. you are all in the BCC so that’s why you only see my email address in the TO field)

I’d like to leave NJ as quickly as possible and return to living in the south bay or even any part of LA or southern california.

Any job that pays the bills that I am able to do I will accept. I’m not able to lift or carry heavy things for any regular duties, but otherwise my nose will not be turned up at blue color work.  So if you know someone who has “YES you are hired” authority and they’ll believe what you say, maybe we’ll get harry a nice filing job. I’ll sweep floors at Home Depot if that’s what it comes to; as long as the paycheck can meet the rent and bills.

I’ll need cheap living quarters  - if you got a lead on a place in a NON-GUN-toting part of town, I’d like to know about it. (and not a sober living house please - thats the atmosphere I have now except for the percesettes, vicadin & demerol being popped and stinky buds being smoked on a DAILY/hourly basis where I live right now)

And likely I will need sofa space for a few weeks until the paychecks are in (unless of course you got a warehouse with heat and a toilet -

I am throwing this out there because I am desperate for sane living quarters, mentally healthy people and AA meetings I can sit through.

I’m asking alot, so no one should feel even a little down that you cant offer a lead. That’s ok.

OK now, read the email again. PLEASE. Just once more and then ask yourself “Is Harry communicating to his friends his need to leave?“,  ”Is harry telling his friends what he needs to escape from?”,  ”Does Harry sound like he is anti-AA or anti-sobriety or anti-12 steps in this email?”, and finally ”Is Harry at that moment still believing in AA and its way of life?”.

Please reread the email and ask those questions. OK?

I know I have not told the story that leads up to WHY this email got sent. And I have not yet said what happens after this email either. But I HAD TO POST this email right now. The things that unfolded just a few months after this email was sent out made for me a fucking life lesson that literally changed everything about how I see the world. Well let me rephrase that, that life lesson brought me BACK to the knowledge I once had about life and how I see the world.  It was a long and difficult lesson that began in mid 2003 and lasted until Nov 2004. (And soon I promise to write it out.)
